Creating a Poster
A recent article on how to create a poster, prompted me to create a composite from our recent trip to Louisiana. This poster contains 91 photos, and is 20 inches by 30 inches.
Check out the instructions on how to do it (it is based on one having a Mac, but I think it can be done on a PC, but will need somewhat different software.) Thank you Mike Matas for sharing this with all of us!
I slightly deviated from the original instructions. By using 91 photo, it enabled me to add a poster-like title to it. I used iPhoto's contact sheet feature and output to a PDF file (which was 450Mb large). I then opened the PDF in Photoshop Elements 2.0, converted it to a 200DPI, 4000 pixel by 6000 pixel TIFF image. I then added the title.
To print it, there are a couple of options:
1/ Burn the image (120MB once it became a TIFF) on to a CD - go to someplace like Kinko's get it printed.
2/ Load the image(TIFF) back into iPhoto and use the printing service (which is actually Kodak's Ofoto print service -- $25 for a poster. I chose the iPhoto print service. Received the poster few days ago - very nice - high quality. Now I need to get it framed.
